Was Simon the Magician in Acts 8 Saved?

Was Simon the magician in Acts 8 saved or was his faith fake? Can we know for sure?

Excerpt From The Answer

“In short, we do not know for sure. Simon had for a long-time astonished crowds… but he’s met not just his match, but the real deal. Perhaps Simon did indeed trust Christ, follow in baptism, and truly believed. Yet we see a kind of underlying deceptive motivation to buy the power of the Holy Spirit – not for the person and work of the Spirit but rather to improve his old magic routines? Peter’s comment seems to suggest Simon got it all wrong, “may your silver perish with you…” and he calls him to repent of his wickedness.”
