New Year’s Resolutions: Spiritual Growth

with Michael Easley
Should Christians make New Year's resolutions? In this special episode of inContext, Michael discusses New Year's resolutions for Christians.

Should Christians Make New Year’s Resolutions?

In this conversation, Michael and Hanna discuss setting goals and spiritual disciplines for the new year. They explore the importance of writing down goals and the impact of accountability. Michael shares his experience of refining his goals over the years and finding his purpose. They also discuss the significance of relationships and the role of community in spiritual growth. They emphasize the importance of taking initiative in building friendships and creating a plan for intentional relationships. The conversation concludes with a reminder of the importance of prayer and knowing what you want

“Each year I would pick one thing that threatens me. That was another lesson from Hendricks. For example, I’d studied Ecclesiastes. I had never liked that book. It was hard, cumbersome, and confusing. I spent three years in the Hebrew texts and it was the most incredible time. I had to force myself to go to a different book. It taught me an invaluable lesson.”

Takeaways

  1. Write down your goals and objectives for the new year to increase the likelihood of achieving them.
  2. Set goals that only God can accomplish, relying on His guidance and power.
  3. Take initiative in pursuing relationships and building a community of like-minded individuals.
  4. Pray for wisdom and discernment in setting goals and pursuing spiritual growth.
