Psalm 8: God’s Glory and Man’s Dignity

Psalm 8 opens and closes with praise: “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth.” Easley unpacks the significance of God’s revealed name—Yahweh—and demonstrates how His glory fills both heaven and earth. At the center of the psalm stands this astonishing truth: God makes humanity in His image.

Confronting pantheism, evolution as ultimate origin, and modern idolatry, Easley boldly affirms a biblical theology of creation. Man does not crawl out of primordial slime; God intentionally forms him, crowns him with glory, and entrusts him with dominion under His authority. Though we appear small against the vast cosmos, God uniquely redeems humanity—so much so that Jesus Christ becomes fully God and fully man.

Psalm 8 calls us to reject the lie that we are either divine or disposable. We bear God’s image—fully known and deeply loved by a majestic Creator.
