The Resurrection and The Life (John 11:1-44)
Michael originally taught ‘The Resurrection and The Life’ (John 11:1-44) at Immanuel Bible Church.
- We often avoid talking about death until it is too late.
- Jesus teaches us how to face death with faith.
- Grief is a profound and holy experience.
- Jesus’ tears reflect His anger towards death and sin.
- We should take our problems directly to Jesus.
- Delay in God’s response does not mean He doesn’t care.
- Life is a vapor, and we must prepare for death.
- Jesus’ actions are always for the glory of God.
- Our suffering can lead to greater holiness, not just happiness.
Excerpt From The Sermon
“Jesus isn’t mourning and crying out loud. It’s a quiet indignance and anger, a hatred toward what has happened. And I think His tears in 35 are tears of anger and indignance against sin, against the power of death, against Satan’s dominion. And it’s taken His friend. He’s troubled in Himself.
Why does He walk them through the edge of grief and pull them back out? Why does Jesus do that? I think we see a beautiful sacred picture of the incarnation. Fully human, Jesus Christ walked into man’s humanity.”
