Excerpt From The Interview
“It’s not a comfort to go to someone when they’re in the middle of heartache and suffering to say it’ll be OK. God’s got a plan. You know, those things are not easy to hear, and we really don’t want to hear them when we’re in the middle of suffering. I had people tell me that and it just kind of bounced off. You know, I didn’t feel at the time that everything was going to be OK.
I didn’t feel like God even loved me at times. I felt like God was punishing me. We all feel things. Feelings are not necessarily right or wrong, because they’re just feelings. And when we’re going through difficult times, those feelings are real to us. And the trite phrases that we commonly use aren’t very helpful.”
