  • Jesus promises to prepare a place for believers.
  • Jesus is the only way to the Father.
  • Faith should be placed in Christ, not in faith itself.
  • The character of God is consistent and trustworthy.
  • The disciples faced confusion, just like we do today.
  • Understanding the nature of heaven brings comfort.
  • Jesus’ works point to spiritual truths.

Excerpt From The Sermon

“There’s a compression of suffering and glory occurring at the cross. Looking beyond that, Jesus says, I’m going to prepare a place for you, and I’ll return, and I’ll bring you back with Me to that place. Despite the KJV translating dwelling places to mansions, abode may be a more accurate word to use in this context.

Maybe what He’s saying is not so much a place in heaven, but it’s in Christ. In other words, in My Father’s house is to be in Christ. No matter your view of the verb or the interpretation of the noun, there’s no housing shortage in heaven. It’s a relationship with Him. It is being in Christ that makes heaven heaven, not simply a location or a dwelling place.”
