Summary:

In this episode of Michael Easley inContext, Michael Easley sits down with Robin John, author of The Good Investor, to explore a biblical vision for money, work, generosity, and investing. Robin challenges Christians to rethink the idea that wealth belongs to us. Instead, God owns everything, and we are called to be faithful stewards of what He entrusts to us.

That stewardship begins before we ever give. How we earn money matters. How we spend and invest it matters. And how we treat the people who work for us matters.

Robin shares how witnessing extreme poverty in India changed his perspective on wealth and led him toward faith-based investing. He explains why Christians should consider what their investments support and whether their financial decisions contribute to the common good or exploitation.

The conversation also addresses contentment, comparison, generosity, and the tension between enjoying God’s blessings and living sacrificially.

Ultimately, Christian generosity is holistic. Our work, spending, investing, and giving can all become expressions of love for God and our neighbors.

Takeaways:

  • God owns our wealth, and we are called to faithfully steward what He has entrusted to us.
  • Biblical generosity encompasses how we earn, spend, invest, and give—not simply how much we donate.
  • Christians should consider whether their financial decisions promote the common good or contribute to exploitation.
  • Contentment becomes difficult when comparison turns wealth into a never-ending pursuit of more.
  • Our investments represent partnerships, so we should understand what our money is actually supporting.
  • Faithful stewardship gives Christians an opportunity to approach their work and investing with biblical goodness and eternal perspective.
