The Truth About Andy Stanley’s Unconditional Conference

with Dr. Charlie Boyd, Ron Rhodes, Alan Shlemon
Dr. Michael Easley is joined by Dr. Charles Boyd, Ron Rhodes, and Alan Shlemon to take an honest look at Andy Stanley’s Unconditional Conference.

The Issue with Andy Stanley’s Unconditional Conference

“The desire to reach lost neighbors and loved ones has become a driving factor for churches adopting false teaching on sexuality and identity. That’s especially true for parents grappling with a child who has embraced homosexuality or transgenderism, said Christopher Yuan, author of Holy Sexuality and the Gospel and a new video adaptation of the book for parents and teens.

Evangelical drift ‘always begins with this desire to be compassionate and loving,’ Yuan said. ‘That’s not a bad thing. … The issue comes when we’re busier listening to the marginalized and not letting their stories be filtered through the lens of Scripture.”’Yuan left behind homosexuality, as well as using and dealing illicit drugs, after coming to Christ in a jail cell. He says his parents never enabled him in his sexual sin or gay identity.

‘If I were to identify as a gay Christian, I would be trying to resuscitate my dead man,’ Yuan said. ‘We should never put our identity in our sin nature or in our flesh. Sin is never meant to be sanctified. It’s meant to be mortified.”

About Dr. Charlie Boyd

Charlie was born in Mount Airy, NC, grew up in Florida and graduated from Florida State University. He then graduated with high honors from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Theology and also earned his Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Prior to coming to FG in 1996, Charlie pastored churches in GA, TX, and AR. He has authored two books, “Different Children, Different Needs” and “What God Has Always Wanted.” He enjoys the beach, hiking, and fishing… basically any activity that carries him to the great outdoors. Charlie and his wife, Karen, have three adult children: Chad, Kristi, and Callie, and eight grandchildren.

About Ron Rhodes

Ron Rhodes (ThD), president of Reasoning from the Scriptures Ministries, is heard regularly on nationwide radio and is the author of The End Times in Chronological Order, The 8 Great Debates of Bible Prophecy, and 40 Days Through Revelation. He periodically teaches at Dallas Theological Seminary and several other seminaries.

About Alan Shlemon

Alan Shlemon has worked as an author and speaker for Stand to Reason since 2004. He trains Christians to share their convictions in a persuasive, yet gracious manner. Alan teaches about some of the most controversial issues of our time: abortion, evolution, homosexuality, bioethics, and Islam. He has been a guest on both radio and television, and has spoken to thousands of adults and students across the country at churches, conferences, and college campuses.

Alan’s training incorporates three components. First, he equips people with the knowledge to form a foundation of belief. Second, he teaches them to communicate their knowledge persuasively and clearly. Finally, he shows them how to communicate in a warm, friendly, and gracious manner. Alan makes complex issues accessible to both youth and adult audiences.
