Does The Number of People Praying Affect if God Answers?
It is always nice to know that people are praying for you. But does the number of people praying affect if God answers the prayer? Does the more popular you are, increase the likelihood to see answered prayer?
Excerpt From The Answer
I don’t know what answering prayer necessarily means. What I do know is a man or woman who prays is going to grow in the relationship with Christ no matter the outcome. God’s word, God’s Spirit, God’s people. If I’m in His word, I’m submitting to His Spirit. Books like Handbook to Prayer, The Valley of Vision, Joy and Strength, help us think less of ourselves, more about others.
I remember that I’m a big sinner every morning. I need that recalibration and reorientation to serve Christ, not myself. It’s not about creature comforts. Yes, I can enjoy this stuff of life, Ecclesiastes, but that’s not the beginning. And I think Western Christianity has really become an i/me/my, if/then world that it’s all about me. Jesus, bless my plan, bless my vision, bless my children, and bless bless bless bless.
I love Handbook to Prayer because it gets me focused on Christ, on confession, on adoration, on worship, long before I start asking for Him to do for me like some puppeteer upside down. He hears those prayers. But as the God of the universe, Is that what I’m asking Him? I want to be more like Christ.
