True Peace (John 14:25-31)
Michael originally taught ‘True Peace’ (John 14:25-31) at Immanuel Bible Church.
- Jesus equips His disciples for when their world shatters.
- The Holy Spirit’s role is to remind and teach.
- True peace comes from Christ, not the world.
- Justification brings peace with God.
- Rejoicing in trials is a choice we must make.
- The cross represents our brokenness and redemption.
- We are desperately broken creatures in need of Christ.
- The world cannot offer the peace that God gives.
- Our dependence on Christ is essential for peace.
Excerpt From The Sermon
“Justification means just as though I never sinned and Jesus Christ is declaring you righteous before His Father. It’s not as though you were sort of a blank sheet that never sinned. It’s Jesus Christ declaring you righteous because of what He did for you and me when He paid for our sins. And now we’re justified by faith we appropriated it.
And I stand before God with Jesus Christ declaring me righteous, not because of any good deed I ever do, but what He’s done. That is justification: being declared righteous. And Paul says, you have peace with God. God does not look down with His hands on His holy hips and sort of glare at you. He does not tap His foot. He does not hold the hammer of wrath and retribution waiting for you to mess up and wham on your heart. When He looks at you, believer in Christ, He sees His son, He sees redemption, He sees justification, and He loves.”
