Can Someone be Gay and be a Christian?

I have several friends who are gay and profess to be Christians. How does that work? How do I ask them, or do I ask them, how they reconcile being gay and Christian with the Bible? Can someone be gay and be a Christian?

Excerpt From The Answer

“A person must trust Christ and Christ alone for their salvation. Sanctification is a process, not a product. When we come to Christ, we are to grow as His disciples. We grow by time in His word, by submission to the control of His Spirit, and among His people. As we grow, are we loving God more than our sin? Are we loving to obey? Are we loving and willing to submit? I understand and empathize with people locked in sin, selfishness, and self-identity. We must conform to Christ, not sin. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

So we cannot say, I am a gay Christian any more than we cannot say, I am a womanizing Christian, or an Adulterer Christian as justification to live in sin. Is it possible for a person who lives in sin to be a Christian? I’ll answer with two questions. 1) Can this person clearly articulate the gospel? 2) Are they seeking God’s help with their sin? If anyone of us remains in a willful, lifestyle of sin, they have either not come to Christ by faith or they are living in sin and the consequences are real.”
