  • The act of dipping the morsel was a sign of friendship.
  • Jesus’ commandment to love one another is foundational.
  • The love among disciples is a witness to the world.
  • Peter’s denial highlights human frailty and the need for grace.
  • Christ’s suffering leads to glory and redemption.
  • We must look beyond our suffering to God’s purpose.

Excerpt From The Sermon

“If a person is living a life in constant sin, there are good arguments that a person can be harassed or demonized sometimes is the word. In Judas’ case, I had to plead fifth here. I think he had an opportunity to repent, but we do know the story that he is the son of perdition. So God has chosen him for this moment. Did Judas have an opportunity to repent? Yes. Once he goes down that road, there is no turning back. Dr. F.F. Bruce writes, ‘Satan could not have entered him had he not granted admission.’ So there’s got to be some complicity on the part of the person to enjoin in this effort. And for Judas now, it’s set in stone.”
