Summary:

In this episode, Dr. Michael Easley reconnects with longtime friend and professor Dr. Robert Brent, author of Recapturing Godly Masculinity. Dr. Brent draws from years as a scientist, coach, mentor, and father of three sons. He explores the urgent need to redefine manhood through a biblical lens. Together, he and Dr. Easley unpack the crisis of masculinity in today’s culture—where young men often swing between passivity and toxic dominance. They point to Christ as the ultimate model of strength under control.

Dr. Brent explains that godly masculinity grows through both masculine and spiritual maturity. It’s shaped by humility, leadership, responsibility, and dependence on the Holy Spirit. Through examples of servant leadership, iron-sharpening friendships, and purity in relationships, this conversation equips men to lead with courage and compassion. Whether you’re a father, mentor, or man navigating faith in a confusing world, this dialogue offers a practical and hope-filled roadmap toward Christlike manhood.

Takeaways:

  • True masculinity grows through both masculine and godly maturity.
  • Leadership modeled by Christ is rooted in service, not dominance.
  • Godly friendships sharpen men through honesty, friction, and grace.
  • Purity requires boundaries that protect and strengthen relationships.
  • God calls every man—young or old— to continual growth toward Christlikeness.
  • Mentorship and accountability are vital for developing strong, godly men.
