Excerpt From The Interview
“I had to face some intellectual barriers. I believed in Jesus, but I had a bunch of questions. One of the big issues was, if this is real, how come, I mean, I like God, but I don’t like His friends. A lot of Christians were the biggest obstacle. I had to look at that. And what I’ve always tried to do is get all the noise out of the situation and just look at the Bible. What does it say? Some Christians were a real stumbling block.
Many people experience abuse, judgment, or rejection in the church. Everybody’s had the experience of judgmental, legalistic Christians. And so we get this picture of what Jesus is about. I went to the Scriptures to overcome my obstacles. If you’re going to accept or reject the faith, you can’t be accepting or rejecting something that’s not the faith. So we have to look at what He actually said.”
