Let Him Follow Me (John 12:20-26)

Michael originally taught ‘Let Him Follow Me’ (John 12:20-26) at Immanuel Bible Church.

  • Jesus’ identity as the Son of Man encompasses both His humanity and divinity.
  • Suffering is integral to the glorification of Christ.
  • Loving one’s life too much can lead to spiritual loss.
  • Discipleship involves serving and following Jesus wholeheartedly.
  • True glory comes from deflecting attention to God, not seeking personal glory.
  • To bear fruit in our lives, we must die to ourselves.
  • Submission to God’s will is essential for a fruitful Christian life.

Excerpt From The Sermon

“A disciple is to hate his own life. What does that mean? We’re to hate our life in comparison to our love for Christ. Remember when Jesus essentially says, if you don’t hate your mother and father, you’re not fit to follow Me. Does He mean you hate your parents? No, of course not. What He means is, if your love to Me is not such a wholehearted love that it almost looks like you hate your family, it’s no love at all. The love you have for Jesus Christ should be so overwhelming that it looks like everything else is unimportant to you.”
