The Good Shepherd (John 10:1-18)
Michael originally taught ‘The Good Shepherd’ (John 10:1-18) at Immanuel Bible Church.
- Jesus is the Good Shepherd who cares for His sheep and leads them.
- We are like sheep in need of a shepherd, as we are prone to sin and in need of guidance and protection.
- Jesus contrasts Himself with hired hands who do not have the same level of care and commitment.
- Jesus promises abundant life for His followers, a life that is extraordinary and remarkable.
Excerpt From The Sermon
“Both the door and the shepherd have to do with a way of salvation. The door is the way to enter as the good shepherd is the one who provides salvation. So when Jesus refers to Himself now as the door, He again stands out from these two groups of thieves and robbers. In verse 8, Jesus refers to those who came before Him. He may be in the figure of speech talking about false Messiahs coming lately. There were people trying to gather a following or a cult group of some kind. He might be referring to national leaders of the past who were deceptive and evil in their reign of power. Jesus says, the door is the one way, It’s exclusive. Salvation is through Him. There’s one door, not many doors to God.”
