I Will Not Leave You as Orphans (John 14:18-24)
Michael originally taught ‘I Will Not Leave You as Orphans’ (John 14:18-24) at Immanuel Bible Church.
- God promises not to leave us as orphans, providing comfort and assurance.
- God acknowledges our helplessness and gives us peace by faith.
- The promise of life through Christ is central to Christianity.
- Love for God should be expressed eagerly, not out of obligation.
- Personal testimonies can powerfully illustrate the journey from abandonment to belonging.
- Understanding God’s love can transform feelings of victimhood into gratitude.
- Faith in Christ assures us that we are never truly alone.
Excerpt From The Sermon
“If you’re a believer in Jesus Christ, your life is bound together in Him. Your life and mine apart from Him are out in the wind. In this passage, Jesus is facing the cross. He is about to die. Hours away from His crucifixion, He’s got the wherewithal as the son of God, to tell them, ‘When you feel abandoned, I promise you I’m going to come to you. I promise you I’ll be with you. And I promise you you’re going to live. Because if you’re in me, you’re going to live.’
Perhaps the fundamental truth is that Jesus Christ lives. And because He lives, we can live. That’s what He’s telling them here in hundreds of different ways throughout the Gospel of John. Jesus says, ‘I’m the central event, My salvation given to you will be because of My resurrection after the cross. And I’m going to give you that life.”
